Jess Wiki: Nil Versus Null

Why does Jess use "nil" when Java uses "null"?

Short answer
Because CLIPS does. Remember that Jess borrows from CLIPS syntax.
Longer answer
Because LISP does! Recall that Jess traces its lineage to LISP and LISP uses NIL, too.
Long answer
Because the word nihil in Latin means nothing.
